Southern Valley of the Incas

INTRODUCTION

This is a half-day tour to the Southern Valley or South Valley that starts and finishes in Cusco. The first ruin Tipon is a great and important destination because there, you can see how developed was the Hydraulic engineering that the Incas used to transport the water to the crops. ITINERARY

We will meet at the main square of Cusco around 8:30 am, heading south towards Puno, approximately 45 min from
Cusco we will find the archaeological site Tipon (temple of the water). Once at Tipon, we can appreciate the Inka terraces, and constructions of hydraulic irrigation channels for agriculture, in that place we will be 1 hour. Afterward, we will continue to Pikillacta passing by the Lake Huaqarpay, a protected area at the top of an Andeans plateau. Pikillacta is a pre-Inca citadel built by the Wari culture (Pre-Inca culture), in this ruin, we will stay another hour appreciating the long routes and old architecture technics. The last point that we will visit is Andahuaylillas, a village with a small chapel known as the Rome of America, where we see paintings by renowned painters from Cusco. then we will return to Cusco.
