The Inka Jungle trek Tropical Trail is one of the new routes offered by our company that includes adventure options like cycling, rafting, zipline, rock climbing, trekking, and all kinds of adventures!. You will hike in an authentic Inca trail, visit archaeological ruins, and have incredible views that make this excursion an unforgettable experience.
The guide will pick you up from your hostel in Cusco at 5:30 am, after breakfast in Ollantaytambo we will travel by bus to the highest place of the trip “ABRA MALAGA 4350 meters”.
Over the sea level, the edge of the Andeans mountains, next to the snow mountain VERONICA and from there we will do downhill in bikes to SANTA MARIA 1800 meters over the sea level, finishing this activity we are ready to have a delicious typical lunch.
After a break, we are ready to continue the adventure doing rafting ina river level tree, not too dangerous but not too boring, perfect to have fun and finish the day in a comfortable EcoLodge.
After breakfast the guide will show you the diversity of the jungle plants of the area, then the group will go to Inka Trail trek where walking starts, it will take approximately 4 hours through the high forest among the abundance of flora and fauna. In this area is possible to see many types of plants, orchids, birds, and other wild animals, a paradise of biodiversity in the Inka jungle.
We will continue our walk through the Inka road and by the way, we will have lunch made by a local community with fruits and tubers native from the area. Hot springs of Cocalmayo will be the trophy at the end of the path, here we will relax our muscle before going to the lodge.
In the morning, after a good breakfast, we will head toward the nearby zip lining location. Here, we will experience different zip lining routes, cross a suspension bridge, and do some light rock climbing. After this activity, the bus will take us to Hidroélectrica where we will enjoy lunch.
We can relax there for a while, then continue onto the route toward Aguas Calientes. We will walk for about 3 hours and along the way, you will encounter beautiful waterfalls, different wildlife, next to the beautiful Urubamba River. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will get together in a local restaurant to enjoy a great dinner and have a briefing about our next excursion to Machu Picchu. After dinner, you have free time to explore the city of Aguas Calientes.
The group will wake up early at 4:00 am to go up to Machu Picchu, following an ascending route through the high forest, we could have the chance to see the sunrise in the ruins because the purpose is to reach Machupicchu at 6:00 am. The guide will show us the sanctuary for 2 hrs. approx. then the group will have free time to enjoy Machu Picchu by themselves until 11:30 am (6.5 hours in Machupicchu). We return by walking (3.5 hours) to Hydroelectric where the car is waiting for us and it will leave at 3:00 pm to return to Cusco city, arriving around 10:00 pm.
Note: it is possible to spend one more night in Machu Picchu town paying $30 extra and return next day (if you want to climb Huayna Picchu or Mountain Machu Picchu or stay longer in Machupicchu) it is a good idea, or you can add the train back to Cusco instead of the bus and you can stay in Machupicchu as long as you can until 5:00 pm, the train is faster and more comfortable than the bus ride, it just takes 1 hour and 40 min from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and then our car takes you back to Cusco and it takes 1 hour and a half.
We have almost Daily departures for this tour. The weather is dry all year. However, between December and April, there are a few rain spots, but it is not a big deal. The Inka Jungle Trek is available all year. The temperature can be around 28°C during the day and 15°C During the night. Nevertheless, The fist part of the Inka Jungle Trek is a bit cold 15°C Just in the Morning leaving Cusco. That is why on this tour you need summer clothes and a warm Jacket.
