INTRODUCTION
This Uyuni tour is a great opportunity to enjoy the best destination in Bolivia, it is not just the Big Salt Flat, you will visit the Eduardo Avaroa reserve, with engrossing landscapes, you will enjoy the first day the gigantic Uyuni salt flat, the train cemetery where you can see the old rusting trains from decades ago, the museum hotel made of salt in Uyuni, an island in the Chiguana desert (South of Uyuni) with tall cacti and petrified coral, the second day a big valley with volcanos, a red lake, flamingos, Vicuñas, the tree of Rock, 3 lakes, hot springs, and the last day geysers and a green lake. every single day has a different natural wonder, this is why it is the best natural attraction in Bolivia.
This Uyuni tour includes meals, lodge, and transport the 3 days. But remember you will be in a desert far away from La Paz city, that is why the services Like electricity, water, accommodation, and phone connection are basics.
We will meet the group in our office in Uyuni where you can leave your luggage if you wish, then we will leave the town of Uyuni around 10:30 a.m. to visit the Uyuni train cemetery. Afterward, you can enjoy Colchani (salt miners workshops), where you can see handicrafts made of salt and textile art made of llama and alpaca. Then, visit “Ojos de Agua Salada”, where water bubbles through the salt plains, and a hotel made entirely of salt that is used as a museum nowadays. Next, hike up to “Incahuasi Island” to see tall cactus and rock formations made of petrified coral. Then we will enjoy lunch. Afterward, enjoy a unique experience of watching a beautiful sunset over the salt flats, and finally, arrive at our hostel for dinner and rest in shared rooms (double rooms).
At 7:00 a.m. we will have breakfast and visit the Galaxy cave and then visit the Chiguana desert on the south side of the Uyuni salt flat, surrounded by volcanoes like Ollagüe (5840m), which is still active and can be seen from the viewpoint. afterward, continue along the rocky path called “El Pasito Tuntun”. Later, we will enjoy the Cañapa, the Hedionda, and the Chiarcota lagoons where flamingos can be seen.
Finally, on the day, we will enter “Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve” (NATIONAL PARK), visit the Siloli Desert at 4550m (the highest and driest in the world), take a photo next to the “rock tree” (a lava rock formation). Before reaching the final destination, we will stop at the viewpoint next to the Red Lagoon to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire this intense red lake. in the end, we will spend the night in a shared family accommodation in Huayllajara.
Weak up early to start around 5:00 a.m. in order to visit the “Sol de Mañana” Geyser (5,000m) and walk close to fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling pots of mud at 160-210 Cº. and then have the chance to take a bath in an open-air Hot Springs at 32 °C water. then the Dali Desert, and the Green Lagoon (toxic copper water at the foot of the big Licancabur volcano at 6000m, a few kilometers from the Bolivia-Chile border).
At long last, we return to Uyuni enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way and having lunch at a picnic by the roadside. On the way, we will pass through Rock Valley, the Alota settlement, and the small town of San Cristóbal, where you can see a baroque church and colonial paintings. The return to the city of Uyuni is the end of our expedition.
We have Daily departures for this tour. The weather is dry all year. However, between December and April, there are a few rain spots, perfect for a mirror effect, with the stars reflecting off your feet. This is not a Trekking tour so everybody can do it even if they are old or so young. However, it is not recommended for people with lung problems because of the cold and dry air.
During the rainy season from January to April, the Salt Flats fill up with water so it is not possible to cross them in the same way as during dry season. As a consequence, the itinerary is modified during that period. The main changes are usually as follows:
Instead of stopping at the Incahuasi (Fish Island), we stop at a place where the water reflects the
sky and where it seems that the sky and the ground merge into one.
If weather is too snowy, some areas during the third day of tour will be missed as follows:
hotsprings; geysers and transfer to San Pedro De Atacama (if booked).
